    The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA)’s total international exports resumed their nine-month growth run, increasing by 20.8 per cent over May 2023.

    Full international imports climbed by 32.5 per cent, while total international volumes increased by 30.5 per cent. May container shipments totalled 277,388 TEU, up 20.6 per cent from May 2023.

    Year-to-year (YoY), volumes are up 8.2 per cent to 1.2 million TEU, with complete imports up 12.5 per cent and full exports up 20.8 per cent.

    Domestic container volume is up 1.6 per cent year-to-date (YTD) 2024 compared to YTD 2023. Alaska volumes increased by 4.7 per cent, and Hawaii volumes decreased by 12.6 per cent.

    In April, NWSA reported continued strong container volumes, with container volumes reaching 258,688 TEU.
