Odisha has given in-principle approval for the development of the Bahuda Satellite Major Port in Ganjam, a greenfield deep-sea port proposed at an estimated investment of ₹21,500 crore.

Planned as a satellite port of Paradip Port, the project is expected to have a cargo-handling capacity of 150 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The deep-sea facility will support larger vessels, enhance cargo movement and strengthen maritime connectivity for southern Odisha and neighbouring regions.

The project is also expected to drive growth in logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, transportation, port-led industries and maritime services, while creating employment opportunities and attracting new investments to the region.

The proposed Bahuda port marks a significant step in Odisha’s efforts to strengthen its position as a major maritime and logistics hub.
