Odisha is set to accelerate its maritime infrastructure growth with plans to develop a deep-sea port and shipbuilding cluster involving an investment of more than ₹50,000 crore. The project is aimed at strengthening the state’s position as a major maritime and industrial hub.
The proposed development is expected to enhance cargo handling capacity, improve connectivity, and attract investments across shipping, logistics, and manufacturing sectors. The shipbuilding cluster could also support ancillary industries and create new employment opportunities.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader efforts to expand port infrastructure, boost domestic shipbuilding capabilities, and increase the competitiveness of its maritime sector.
With its strategic coastline and growing industrial base, Odisha aims to leverage the project to support trade growth and strengthen its role in regional and global shipping networks.
