Ocean Network Express (ONE) has launched a new gateway in the cities of Kolkata and Haldia, India.

The Japanese shipping company noted that export/import cargo may be easily handled via Balmer Lawrie CFS, using rail services to link with mainline vessels at Nhava Sheva Port.

This improved connection enables direct access to important global destinations such as the US, Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa.

Inbound shipments will also benefit from this service, with cargo released from mainline vessels at Nhava Sheva Port and conveyed by rail to Balmer Lawrie CFS in Kolkata for prompt delivery.

According to ONE, the new service features are the following:

    • Fixed-day train departure from Balmer Lawrie CFS in Kolkata (Wednesday cut-off, Thursday departure).
    • Export cargo transported by rail is immediately connected to mainline ships at Nhava Sheva Port.
    • Import cargo is unloaded at Nhava Sheva port for further transportation to Kolkata by rail.
    • There would be no more waiting time at the transhipment points (Singapore, Port Kelang, and Colombo) for connecting to mainline and feeder ships for export and import goods.
    • Significant improvement in point-to-point transportation time and consistency when planning your valuable shipment.

In December 2024, ONE announced an improvement to its Baltic Bridge Express (BBX) Service, designed to provide its clients with expanded port coverage.
