PIL Group marked a significant milestone on 12 February 2026 with the maiden call of its first LNG-powered vessel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, underscoring the company’s deepening commitment to the Saudi market and sustainable maritime logistics.
The historic port call represents a major step forward in PIL’s environmental strategy, reinforcing its transition toward cleaner fuels and future-ready shipping solutions. The deployment of an LNG-powered vessel aligns closely with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes sustainability, economic diversification, and the development of advanced logistics infrastructure.
The milestone also highlights the strong collaboration between PIL and key Saudi stakeholders. The company expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA) for its continued support and partnership in facilitating growth and investment opportunities within the Kingdom.
PIL also acknowledged the cooperation of the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) and Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), whose operational support and coordination were instrumental in successfully handling the LNG-powered vessel’s first call.
With this development, PIL further strengthens its footprint in the Middle East while contributing to the region’s ambition of becoming a global logistics hub. The company noted that the achievement marks the beginning of a new chapter in its partnership with Saudi Arabia, with more collaborative milestones expected in the years ahead.
As the maritime industry accelerates its decarbonization journey, PIL’s LNG initiative signals its proactive role in advancing sustainable shipping practices across key international trade corridors.
