In August, Pilbara Ports recorded a total monthly throughput of 65.8 million tonnes (Mt), reflecting a 5% increase compared to the same month in 2023.

The Port of Port Hedland saw a throughput of 48.6 Mt, with 47.9 Mt attributed to iron ore exports, maintaining consistency with August 2023 levels. Imports at the Australian port reached 173,000 tonnes, a slight rise of 1,000 tonnes compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the Port of Dampier handled a total throughput of 15.7 Mt, marking an 18% increase from August 2023. Imports at Dampier totalled 95,232 tonnes, representing a 23% year-on-year growth.

According to the port authority’s statement, throughput fluctuations are influenced by various factors, including shifts in market conditions, port maintenance activities, and the specific needs of operators.
