    The Port of Melbourne has released its trade figures for March, revealing a notable Year-on-Year (YoY) rise in its container throughput, amounting to 280,900 TEU.

    Full container imports (excluding bass strait) volumes were up in March 2024 against the prior year with furniture, domestic appliances, metal manufactures and paperboard all above last year’s volume.

    Full container exports (excluding Bass Strait) volumes were also up in March 2024 against the prior year.

    Total empty container movements were up in March 2024 against the prior year’s volumes.

    Last August, the Port of Melbourne announced the appointment of Leigh Petschel as the organisation’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

    More recently, the Port of Melbourne announced the completion of a $475 million sustainability-linked loan (SLL).
