PSA and Logtainer are moving forward with plans to enhance intermodal connectivity through the development of the Padua terminal project, aimed at strengthening rail-based logistics links in Europe.

The collaboration focuses on improving cargo flows by expanding intermodal transport capacity and creating more efficient connections between maritime gateways, inland terminals, and regional supply chains.

The Padua project is expected to support the shift toward more sustainable freight movement by increasing the use of rail transport and reducing reliance on road-based logistics. The development aligns with wider industry efforts to improve supply chain efficiency while lowering emissions from cargo transportation.

PSA’s involvement builds on its global expertise in port operations and integrated logistics solutions, while Logtainer brings its focus on inland transport and intermodal services. Together, the partners aim to enhance the role of Padua as a strategic logistics location.

Industry stakeholders said the project reflects the growing importance of inland terminals in modern supply chains, particularly as European logistics networks adapt to rising cargo volumes, sustainability targets, and demand for faster multimodal connections.

The Padua intermodal terminal initiative is expected to contribute to improved freight connectivity and reinforce Italy’s position within Europe’s evolving transport and logistics landscape.
