    India increased its diamond purchases from Russia in January this year to 79 million dollars. The maximum was recorded since September last year. At that time, diamond imports reached 112 million dollars. The growth amounted to 28% in annual terms. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Indian Ministry of Trade and Industry.

    India bought diamonds mainly from the UAE. Imports increased one and a half times, to 772 million dollars. The second line is occupied by the United States. But imports from there fell 1.4 times, to 194 million rubles. In third place is Belgium, exports decreased from 169 million dollars to 138 million.

    In fourth place is Hong Kong, exports increased 1.7 times, to $137 million. Russia is in fifth place.

    Canada supplied most of all diamonds to India – for 71 million dollars, last year’s sales amounted to 190 thousand dollars. Switzerland increased exports 27 times to 27 million dollars, Britain 19 times (4 million dollars).

    Earlier it was written that Russian scientists have grown diamond nanostructures.
