The Russian government has canceled duties on the export of anthracite and coal. The measure will be in effect from May 1 to August 31. Thus they want to support the coal industry. This was reported in the Cabinet.

Export duties were introduced on March 1, their size was 4-7% depending on the ruble exchange rate. If one dollar cost less than 80 rubles, the duty was not paid.

The Russian government tied the export duty on a number of goods to the ruble exchange rate in October last year. It was assumed that the measure would be in effect until the end of 2024. The Cabinet of Ministers explained it by the need to protect the domestic market. The exception was the export of timber, grain, gas and oil.

Earlier it was reported that shadow traders control the sale of coal in Russia.

In addition, it was written that the coal industry in Russia may suffer losses of up to 450 billion rubles.
