Singapore-based SATS Ltd is planning to expand its logistics infrastructure footprint in India by developing integrated multimodal logistics facilities aimed at supporting the country’s growing manufacturing sector and strengthening connections between production centres, airports and seaports.

The company said it remains strongly optimistic about India’s economic prospects and wants to play a larger role in the country’s evolving logistics and transhipment network. Bob Chi, CEO of SATS’ Gateway Services for Asia Pacific, said the company is interested in developing world-class integrated logistics and multimodal facilities to serve manufacturers and businesses across the economy.

SATS already has operations across 14 Indian cities and has committed investments of up to ₹4,500 crore at Noida International Airport as part of its wider expansion in airport logistics and multimodal infrastructure. The company has also established a logistics hub at Jewar Airport under a 37-year concession.

At Noida, SATS has already invested close to ₹1,000 crore in its cargo facility. The next phase involves an additional investment of around ₹600 crore to develop an adjacent integrated logistics park, designed to provide end-to-end airfreight services and improve cargo connectivity.

Beyond Noida, SATS is looking at developing multimodal transhipment centres across major metropolitan areas. The company aims to connect airports with important ports, including Kolkata and Chennai, as India expands its port and logistics infrastructure. Such connectivity would allow cargo to move more efficiently between air, sea and inland transport networks.

The planned investments come as India seeks to strengthen multimodal logistics infrastructure to support manufacturing, exports and international supply chains. Government initiatives such as PM Gati Shakti and the development of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals are focused on integrating road, rail, ports and airports to reduce transit times and logistics costs.

SATS’ strategy also reflects the growing importance of integrated logistics facilities for India’s manufacturing ambitions. Modern multimodal hubs can provide cargo handling, warehousing, distribution, transhipment and other value-added services at strategically located gateways, helping manufacturers gain faster access to domestic and overseas markets.

The company is also exploring additional business opportunities in India through new memoranda of understanding and partnerships. Chi highlighted the importance of stronger public-private partnerships in developing world-class logistics infrastructure and supporting the country’s economic expansion.

With manufacturing activity expanding and supply chains becoming increasingly integrated, SATS’ planned multimodal facilities could strengthen India’s airport-led logistics ecosystem while improving links between industrial centres and global markets. The company’s investment plans underline its intention to make India a key part of its long-term logistics growth strategy.
