Saudi Arabia and Syria have signed four agreements and memorandums of understanding covering roads, railways, civil aviation and postal services, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics.
The agreements were signed during Saudi Transport and Logistics Services Minister Saleh Al-Jasser’s official visit to Damascus, where he met Syrian officials to discuss expanding economic and infrastructure cooperation.
Two MoUs focus on land transport and railways, including technical studies, capacity building and expertise sharing to support the rehabilitation and development of Syria’s road and railway networks. The initiatives are also intended to facilitate transport and trade flows through Syrian territory.
A separate air transport agreement aims to strengthen civil aviation cooperation and improve air connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Syria. Another agreement covers cooperation between the two countries’ postal institutions to develop postal services and exchange expertise.
The agreements form part of broader efforts to revive Syria’s transport infrastructure, improve regional connectivity and support cross-border trade as economic ties between Riyadh and Damascus expand.
