During the final day of the Saudi Tourism Forum 2024 in Riyadh, the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) entered into two significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) and the National Maritime Academy (NMA).
The agreements, signed by various key figures, communicate the SRSA’s primary responsibilities, services, and advancements in facilitating coastal tourism.
Aligned with the SRSA’s mandates, these agreements aim to establish policies, plans, and programs governing navigational and marine tourism activities.
The focus extends to developing mechanisms for safeguarding the marine environment and enhancing human capabilities within the coastal tourism sector.
The first MoU, inked by Mohammed Al-Asiri, acting CEO of SRSA, and Eng. Ziyad Al-Shiha, CEO of SIRC, outlines plans for a coastal tourism command center in Riyadh. This center will address critical aspects such as environmental concerns, security, safety, and tourism.
The collaboration also involves a project to deploy, supply, monitor, and maintain mooring buoys along the Red Sea and initiatives regulating waste management and recycling at sites engaged in navigational and marine tourism activities.
Simultaneously, the second MoU was signed by Saud Al Saud, head of Partnerships at SRSA, and Turki Alshehri, managing director of the National Maritime Academy, focuses on providing training and consulting studies related to sustainable marine protection, marine tourism, and recreational activities.
These agreements reflect the SRSA’s commitment to integrating with public and private sector partners locally and internationally. The aim is to expand strategic partnerships, share experiences, and implement best practices to promote regenerative tourism, and sustainable development, and highlight the Red Sea as a global tourism destination.
