Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Ltd (SDHI) is expanding its shipbuilding capabilities through a major infrastructure upgrade that includes the installation of an additional goliath crane and two electrical level luffing cranes. The investment is aimed at strengthening the shipyard’s production capacity and improving its ability to handle large-scale vessel construction projects.
The new heavy-lifting equipment is expected to enhance operational efficiency by increasing lifting capabilities, improving material handling processes, and supporting smoother ship assembly operations. Advanced crane systems play a critical role in modern shipyards by enabling faster movement of heavy components, reducing production bottlenecks, and improving overall workflow.
The addition of the new goliath crane will further strengthen SDHI’s heavy fabrication and ship assembly capabilities, while the electrical level luffing cranes are expected to support more precise and efficient handling of equipment and materials within the yard.
The upgrade comes as shipbuilders globally continue to invest in advanced infrastructure to meet rising demand for new vessels, fleet renewal projects, and more technologically advanced maritime assets. Modern crane systems are becoming increasingly important as shipyards focus on improving productivity, reducing turnaround times, and supporting larger vessel programmes.
SDHI’s latest investment reflects its strategy to enhance competitiveness through equipment modernisation and expanded construction capabilities. The improved facilities are expected to support future shipbuilding projects and strengthen the company’s position in the evolving maritime manufacturing sector.
