Silk Way West Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Henan Aviation Group (CHAGC) to enhance air cargo connectivity and efficiency between Zhengzhou in China and Baku in Azerbaijan.

The MoU, signed during Air Cargo China 2024 in Shanghai, aims to build a robust dual-hub cooperation model that spans the Asia-Pacific region and connects Europe, America, and Africa.

CHAGC currently manages Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO) and also has cargo terminal projects in Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) and Leipzig/ Halle Airport (LEJ).

By joining forces, cargo airline Silk Way and CHAGC aim to significantly increase the frequency of all-cargo routes between CGO and Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku.

This initiative will position Zhengzhou as a key hub for the Asia Pacific region and Baku as a central hub for Europe, America, Africa, and other regions, said Silk Way.

The airline said the collaboration will leverage the respective strengths of both parties, including strategic locations, extensive route networks and diverse valuable resources.

Silk Way has been operating in the Chinese market for over ten years and now aims to strengthen its presence in the Asian air cargo market and foster new partnerships within the international air cargo industry.

Jenny Zhao, vice president of APAC at Silk Way West Airlines, stated: “We are pleased to partner with China Henan Aviation Group. This collaboration increases our capacity and cargo volume in Zhengzhou and provides convenient and efficient ground support.

“This is a significant step forward in deepening cooperation between our two countries within the Belt and Road Initiative.”

The Challenge Group recentlysigned an MoU with CHAGC that will expand the carrier’s presence in the Henan province.
