Union Minister Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday urged the entrepreneurs engaged in the logistics and warehousing sector to acquire land near Sindhi in Wardha district to set up warehousing facilities. Gadkari said that the opening of the new dry port in Sindhi will create huge opportunities for the entrepreneurs. “With the improved network of road infrastructure in the region and launching of Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway, export and import trade will see a stupendous hike in coming days. It will be a good opportunity for those who wish to expand their businesses,” he said speaking at a panel discussion held during the ‘Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav’.
Elaborating on the challenges and opportunities in and around Nagpur region, the entrepreneurs observed that Maharashtra should come out with a Sikkim Government like policy to further boost the sector in Vidarbha. While expressing his views Arif Siddiqui, Founder and CEO of Cogin Consulting, said the small State in the country’s North East had successfully managed to attract sizable investment in the pharma sector. “The Maharashtra Government should launch similar policies and change the face of the sector here in the region,” he added Dr Viren Thakkar of Logistics Park India Ltd, said the strategically located Nagpur region has a huge potential to become a logistics hub.
He urged the budding entrepreneurs to invest in the sector but said that the newcomers should enter the business professionally and not just be an investor. K Sathianathan, Director, National Highway logistics Ltd; Bharat Bhusan Rathi, Head Distribution and Logistics, Mankind Pharma Ltd; Sudhir Agrawal, Partner Reliable Cargo; Rajan Agrawal, and Rinku Commercial Carrier; were the panelists while Shiv Kumar Rao moderated the session .
