    Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, conducted a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the progress of multiple projects being implemented across the Northeast. Senior officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) participated in the high-level review.

    The meeting covered ongoing and upcoming initiatives in Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, including projects under the Central Sector Scheme (CSS). Sonowal emphasized timely execution, enhanced coordination, and accelerated development to strengthen the region’s connectivity and economic prospects.

    The Minister reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to unlocking the Northeast’s vast potential through improved waterway infrastructure, integrated logistics, and sustainable transport solutions. The review focused on ensuring efficient implementation and resolving bottlenecks to advance regional growth.
