In a significant stride towards the infrastructural advancement of Meghalaya, Methina Farida Marak, the Nokma of Resu A’king, Resubelpara, has donated a land parcel spanning 106 acres to the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (MIDC).
This land allocation will be dedicated to the establishment of a state-of-the-art logistics park, aimed at fortifying the logistics sector within the state and propelling its overall economic growth.
James P.K. Sangma, Chairman of MIDC, conveyed his appreciation towards the Nokma and her clan for their collaborative gesture.
“This is a commendable initiative by the Nokma. We extend our gratitude to her and the clan for their proactive engagement with MIDC in executing developmental endeavors within her village, which holds immense significance for Meghalaya,” he remarked.
“The establishment of a logistics park is imperative at this juncture. It holds the potential to significantly enhance the state’s logistics sector by reducing freight costs and transit times, curtailing warehousing expenses, mitigating vehicular emissions and traffic congestion, and augmenting the monitoring and traceability of shipments through infrastructural, procedural, and technological interventions. I express my gratitude to the Nokma for her forward-thinking approach,” he added.
Abraham VI, Chairperson of the Nokma Advisory Committee, underscored the project’s importance in the context of local youth development.
“Under the guidance of our esteemed Nokma, we have undertaken numerous initiatives in the past aimed at nurturing local youth. However, this project marks the most significant of such endeavors thus far, and we are delighted to have MIDC as collaborators in this venture,” he stated
