Swissport has commenced a new air cargo operation at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, expanding its cargo-handling activities at the airport and strengthening its presence in the regional air freight market.
The new operation will support the handling and processing of air cargo for airline customers operating through the tri-national airport serving the Basel region of Switzerland, France and Germany.
The launch adds cargo-handling capacity at an important logistics gateway in the Upper Rhine region. EuroAirport’s location provides access to major industrial and commercial centres across the three countries, supporting demand for international air freight services.
Swissport provides cargo handling, warehousing and related ground services to airlines and logistics companies at airports worldwide. Its operations include the handling of general cargo as well as specialised shipments requiring dedicated procedures.
The new Basel-Mulhouse operation is expected to support efficient cargo processing, including the movement of shipments between aircraft, cargo facilities and onward road transportation. Improved handling capacity can help airlines and freight customers manage growing cargo volumes and maintain reliable supply-chain connections.
Basel is also an important centre for industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, life sciences and advanced manufacturing, generating demand for secure and time-sensitive transportation solutions.
Swissport’s expansion comes as air cargo operators continue to invest in airport infrastructure and handling capabilities to meet changing requirements from airlines, freight forwarders and shippers.
The new operation further strengthens Swissport’s network in Europe and provides additional cargo-handling capabilities at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, supporting the airport’s role as a regional gateway for international freight.
