TCI Seaways, a division of Transport Corporation of India Ltd., is exploring the development of a dedicated shipping service between Ranong in Thailand and Chennai in India under the BIMSTEC regional trade initiative.

A delegation led by R. U. Singh, President and CEO of TCI Seaways, met Sachin S. Kurve, IAS, Chairman of Chennai Port Authority, to discuss the proposed service and opportunities to strengthen maritime connectivity between the two countries.

The discussions focused on facilitating bilateral trade, improving regional logistics efficiency and developing effective shipping solutions to support cross-border commerce. The proposed service could also strengthen port-to-port cooperation and create additional maritime trade opportunities between India and Thailand.

The initiative aligns with the broader BIMSTEC framework, which promotes regional connectivity and economic cooperation among countries in the Bay of Bengal region. The proposed Chennai–Ranong link is expected to support efforts to improve trade access and logistics integration between the two countries.
