Tesla Power India, a leader in the battery industry with nationwide footprint in India, has partnered with Thaihuawei Battery Co. Ltd., Thailand.

When the business grows substantially, the Thai company will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India in partnership with Tesla Power India. This facility is projected to have the capacity to produce 12 million batteries annually, at an estimated investment of INR 150 crore.

The Ministry of Trade and Commerce in India has endorsed the Free Trade Treaty (FTT) between India and Thailand, encouraging this strategic alliance between the two MNCs.

One of the immediate advantages of this collaboration is the significant reduction in costs, owing to the zero-import duty from Thailand when compared to sourcing batteries from China. This enhances affordability and fosters mutually beneficial trade relationships between the two countries.

With focus on motorcycle batteries, this collaboration aims to bring superior technology and affordability to the Indian market, a media release from Tesla Power India said.

Kavinder Khurana, Managing Director of Tesla Power India, said, “Approx. 1 Crore motorcycle batteries are replaced every month in India. If the life of motorcycle batteries can be increased using our innovative technology, it will save the cost for the Indian consumers.”

Notable highlights of this alliance include:
Complimentary FRC for motorcycle batteries: Tesla Power India is thrilled to offer a complimentary FRC (Friction Reducing Concentrate) valued at Rs 250 with each motorcycle battery purchase. This effectively provides a 25% discount on the Rs 1000 battery, making it an attractive and costeffective choice for consumers.

Future manufacturing facility in India: Thaihuawei Battery Co. Ltd., Thailand, will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India in partnership with Tesla Power India, when their business grows substantially. This facility is projected to have the capacity to produce 12 million batteries annualy, at an estimated investment of INR 150 crore. This endeavour is set to create 5000 jobs, directly as well as indirectly, contributing significantly to India’s employment landscape.

Widespread availability: Tesla Power India plans to make these advanced batteries, at an affordable price, readily accessible to consumers by distributing them through a network of 30,000 outlets across India.

Jaroon Jaruratchatanon of Thaihuawei Battery Co. Ltd., Thailand, said, “We are excited about the future possibilities of this collaboration with Tesla Power India Pvt. Ltd.. Together, we aim to drive innovation, make batteries affordable, create jobs, and contribute to the sustainable development of India’s battery sector.”
