The maritime community came together to celebrate excellence and professional achievement at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Mumbai Awards Ceremony, where Mr. Ramesh S Ramakrishnan, Chairman of Transworld Group, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Mr. Ramakrishnan commended India’s remarkable progress in the maritime and logistics sectors over the past decade. He highlighted how the country’s strategic initiatives, expanding port infrastructure, and increasing integration into global trade routes are creating unprecedented job opportunities for young professionals.

However, he also emphasised that rapid sectoral growth demands continuous professional development to equip the workforce with future-ready capabilities. He urged industry leaders, educators, and policymakers to work together in fostering an environment where lifelong learning and global best practices are embedded into maritime careers.

Applauding the ICS for its outstanding contribution to maritime education and training in India and worldwide, he said,

“The Institute has been instrumental in shaping competent professionals who uphold the highest standards of ethics, knowledge, and service in global shipping and trade.”

As part of this vision, the Transworld Academy of Excellence continues to collaborate with leading academic institutions, training bodies, and corporate partners to design industry-relevant programmes. These initiatives aim to develop talent with the technical know-how, leadership skills, and adaptability required to excel in a dynamic maritime and logistics landscape.

The evening also saw recognition of top performers from across the ICS network, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to building a skilled, resilient, and globally competitive maritime workforce.
