Container Corporation of India (Concor), in association with Indian Railways and Chennai Port Authority, on Thursday flagged off the Inaugural TVS Go Green Express container train laden with Direct Port Entry (DPE) export containers of TVS Motor Company. This was facilitated by TVS SCS Global Freight Solutions Ltd from Jolarpet to Kamarajar Port Ltd, Ennore, on November 28.

The DPE allows exporters to bring export containers directly to the port rather than routing them through a Container Freight Station. Previously, every industrial stuff container had to go to CFS for Customs permission before proceeding to the terminal gates.

The event represents a key step toward speedier container transportation between Chennai ports and the Southern / Northern Tamil Nadu and Bangalore sectors. The introduction of Concor-owned LNG trucks for first and last mile connectivity will also promote Green Logistics programs and provide a cost-effective transportation option, according to a Concor social media update.
