Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone in agricultural and processed food exports by dispatching its first-ever commercial consignment of 48 metric tonnes of liquid glucose to Vietnam from Kanpur on October 16, 2026. The initiative is expected to diversify the state’s export basket and create new opportunities for its food-processing industry.

The export was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government. Kanpur-based H.L. Agro Products Pvt. Ltd. exported the consignment, marking a new step in expanding the state’s presence in international markets.

The shipment will move from the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Kanpur to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Navi Mumbai, before being transported to Vietnam. The raw materials used for the consignment were sourced from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and processed at the company’s manufacturing facility in Kanpur.

Liquid glucose is widely used in food manufacturing, including bakery products, sweets, confectionery and beverages. Its entry into the export market provides an opportunity for Indian processors to expand their international customer base and increase the value addition of agricultural raw materials.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya described the development as an important step towards expanding the state’s processed food exports, diversifying export products and strengthening its participation in global trade. The initiative is also expected to open new business opportunities for food-processing industries across the state.

APEDA supported the exporter with documentation, export preparations and procedural guidance. The initiative also highlights the role of inland container depots, seaports and integrated logistics networks in connecting manufacturing centres with overseas markets.

The first commercial shipment to Vietnam represents a new export avenue for Uttar Pradesh’s agro-based industries and reinforces India’s efforts to expand value-added food exports and diversify its international trade destinations.
