    V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has achieved a major operational milestone by handling 30 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo, underscoring its growing importance in India’s maritime trade landscape.

    The milestone was commemorated at a special gathering held in the presence of Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, along with officers from the Traffic Department and senior officials of the port authority.

    Port officials said the achievement was realised in record time and reflects the dedication, seamless coordination and collective efforts of all stakeholders, including port users, terminal operators and the workforce.

    “This landmark reinforces our commitment to operational excellence and efficient facilitation of maritime trade,” the port authority said, adding that sustained infrastructure development, improved cargo handling efficiency and process optimisation have contributed significantly to the achievement.

    V.O. Chidambaranar Port continues to strengthen its role as a key gateway on India’s east coast, supporting regional industrial growth and enhancing the country’s logistics and supply chain capabilities.
