    V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, convened a stakeholder meeting to deliberate on the proposed Outer Harbour project, engaging key shipping lines and terminal operators to gather industry perspectives and inputs.

    The meeting was chaired by Shri R. Lakshmanan, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, and was attended by the Port Authority’s Chairperson Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Deputy Chairperson Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, along with the Heads of Departments of the port.

    Discussions during the meeting focused on obtaining comments, observations and feedback from stakeholders to support effective project planning and development. Participants shared views on operational requirements, capacity enhancement, connectivity, and long-term growth prospects of the proposed Outer Harbour, highlighting its potential to strengthen the port’s role in regional and international trade.

    The Port Authority reiterated its commitment to a consultative and collaborative approach, noting that stakeholder inputs would play a crucial role in shaping the project to meet industry expectations while ensuring sustainable and efficient port development.
