Valenciaport has recorded the movement of 1.22 million tonnes of goods by rail, which translates into 131,795 TEUs handled by rail so far this year.

These figures represent more than 8 per cent of the total land traffic passing through the Port of Valencia.

According to figures for the last six months of the year, between January and June, Valenciaport trains transported 12 per cent more containers than in the same period last year.

This percentage rises to 18 per cent if we take into account the number of tonnes. The number of direct entries and exits to the port facilities has also grown and now stands at 26,382 TEUs and 242,968 tonnes.

A total of ten companies manage rail traffic from the Port of Valencia to the logistics areas of Madrid, Valladolid, Bilbao and Zaragoza, where most of the goods arriving via rail-port traffic originate.

Last month, Fundación Valenciaport concluded its role in the Digital Twin for Green Shipping (DT4GS) project.
