    Tan Cang Que Vo Inland Container Depot (TCQV ICD) in North Vietnam received on July 5 the first export shipment onboard MSC cleared by Customs at the inland clearance point.

    U&I Logistics’ 79 export containers onboard MSC were cleared by Customs directly at the ICD, TCQV ICD said in a statement.

    Connecting customers in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen and surrounding areas, MSC provides barging services at TCQV ICD where customers can deliver containers, buy sea freight and undergo Customs clearance.

    Owned by Saigon Newport Corp, TCQV ICD was launched in 2021. It is located in the cargo-rich hinterland of Bac Ninh Province and is an ideal cargo center for consolidation and hubbing of containers in North Vietnam, according to PSA International in a research report.

    “Its location along the Duong River allows it to offer barging services to and from the main clusters of river and deep-sea ports in Haiphong, providing an environmentally sustainable and cost effective transport mode,” the report said.

    This solution is convenient to customers, as they can receive or deliver containers at nearby factories while contributing to the development of a green and sustainable supply chain by reducing emissions via barging of containers to ports.

    In addition to MSC, TCQV ICD is used by other shipping lines such as Maersk, Cosco, ONE, SITC, Wanhai, HMM, Dongjin and SM Line.

    The depot provides services such as stuffing/unstuffing, cargo inspection and short-haul trucking, and receives containers for barging. It has an annual capacity of 700,000 TEUs and can berth three 128-TEU barges at any given time.

    Saigon Newport said TCQV ICD is expected to become an important delivery/receipt point of the area in the future, an important link in the waterway transport route connecting Hai Phong and Bac Ninh area and helping to shorten the transport time between factories and ports.
