V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has announced two breakthrough initiatives that mark a decisive leap towards next-generation port operations and India’s green maritime transition.

In a major digital transformation push, VOC Port has launched its Digital Twin project, aimed at creating a virtual replica of the port’s physical assets, systems, and operational processes. The platform will enable real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and data-driven decision-making—enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and overall productivity.

Scheduled for completion by March 2026, the project is expected to serve as a cornerstone in VOC Port’s evolution into a fully smart and technology-enabled port.

Reinforcing its leadership in sustainability, VOC Port has also become the first port in India to produce and utilise green hydrogen within its campus. This landmark move positions the port at the forefront of the country’s net-zero ambitions and underscores its commitment to cleaner energy adoption.

The production and on-site use of green hydrogen are set to significantly reduce carbon emissions from port operations while supporting the development of a future-ready, low-carbon port ecosystem. These efforts align with the Government of India’s vision for a green, energy-secure maritime sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

With these twin advancements—digital transformation and clean energy leadership—VOC Port is positioning itself as a national model for innovation, sustainability, and next-generation maritime infrastructure.
