    Volvo Group and Daimler Truck are teaming up to lead the digital revolution in heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Through a groundbreaking joint venture, both giants aim to pioneer a common software-defined vehicle platform, revolutionizing truck technology for the future.

    The partnership intends to establish a cutting-edge software-defined platform and dedicated truck operating system, empowering both companies to offer enhanced digital features tailored to customer needs.

    With a 50/50 partnership, the joint venture will operate independently, while Volvo Group and Daimler Truck remain competitors in other sectors. This collaboration marks a significant step towards CO2-neutral drive technologies and underscores the importance of digitalization in vehicle development.

    Martin Lundstedt, Volvo Group’s CEO, emphasised the strategic significance of the collaboration, highlighting the potential to create value through innovative digital services. Martin Daum, CEO of Daimler Truck, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of turning vehicles into programmable devices.

    Headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, the joint venture will consolidate resources to set an industry standard for truck operating systems. Pending final agreements, the transaction is anticipated to close in Q1 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
