Wah Kwong Maritime Transport has joined Tankers International, the world’s largest shipping pool for VLCCs.
The UK-based VLCC pool operator said Hong Kong’s diversified shipowner has committed its 2013-built Hong Kong Spirit to its scrubber pool.
The 318,700 dwt vessel joined the VLCC pool, which has an average fleet age of 11.2 years, in September.
“Wah Kwong’s decision to join our VLCC pool is a clear signal that pooling provides tangible benefits to our partners. From improved cash flow and revenues, fairer charter party terms, plus access to a wider customer base and market intelligence, pooling simplifies a shipowner’s role,” said Charlie Grey, chief executive of Tankers International.
The addition follows the Vietnamese-flagged tankers the 2010-built Felix and the 2009-built Symphony which joined earlier this year, taking the pool size to 35 ships.
