The new boat would be the 13th electric hybrid 100 pax boat being built by CSL for Kochi Water Metro.

Currently KWML operates Water Metro services on High Court-Vypeen, High Court-Bolgatty and Vyttila-Kakkanad routes using 12 boats.

It is expected that the availability of more boats would help KWML start boat services on new routes. KWML is planning to start services on new routes between High Court and South Chittoor in the coming weeks. Earlier KMRL authorities had said that they need at least three more boats to start service in South Chittoor sector.
