Starting 23 September, WEC Lines will expand its NWC-Portugal service to include the port of Hamburg, establishing a fast weekly shipping route between the German port and the Portuguese ports of Leixões and Setúbal.

Departing Hamburg every Sunday, the service will reach Leixões by Saturday and Setúbal by Monday, providing an eco-friendly alternative to traditional truck transport from Germany to Portugal.

The route connects key trade hubs including Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Leixões, Setúbal, and Montoir.

The service will be operated by two dedicated 1,000 TEU vessels on a 14-day fixed rotation, offering enhanced flexibility and efficiency through optimal short-sea and hinterland connections.

“By adding Hamburg to our short sea services, we offer a fast and reliable solution for our Portuguese clients in Northwestern Europe and vice versa. This underlines our commitment to respond to market demand while offering continued optimal solutions for our existing client base,” stated Caesar Luikenaar, Managing Director of WEC Lines.
