Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, has been awarded a conditional cargo handling licence at Oslo Airport, marking the group’s entry into the Norwegian market. The move will make WFS the airport’s third cargo handler, subject to the required conditions being fulfilled.
Avinor, which operates Oslo Airport, said the addition of a third handler will increase cargo capacity and competition while providing more options for airlines, freight forwarders and cargo owners. Oslo Airport is experiencing rising demand for cargo services, particularly for time-sensitive and perishable exports such as Norwegian seafood.
WFS will initially operate from temporary facilities, with the new operation supporting the planned development of the airport’s Cargo West area. The company said the new presence will be linked to SATS’ global air cargo network spanning 27 countries.
Oslo Airport is Northern Europe’s largest full-freighter hub, and Avinor expects the additional handler to strengthen supply-chain resilience and support further growth in Norwegian and international air freight.
