In a significant step towards a greener future for maritime logistics, ZIM JADE — the first LNG-powered vessel in ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.’s eco-friendly fleet — made her maiden call at Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals (BMCT), Nhava Sheva. This moment marks a defining milestone in the journey towards sustainable shipping for India and the global maritime community.

Speaking on the development, a company spokesperson said, “This isn’t just a port call — it’s a powerful statement about our industry’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and embracing sustainable innovation. We are honoured to be part of this transformative journey.”

The arrival of ZIM JADE highlights ZIM’s progressive shift towards liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a cleaner alternative fuel source, aimed at significantly lowering the environmental impact of ocean freight. The vessel’s call at BMCT was marked by seamless coordination and flawless execution, thanks to the combined efforts of the ZIM operations team and BMCT terminal staff.

With industry leaders aligning on environmental priorities, the success of ZIM JADE’s call sets the tone for more such green milestones in the years to come.
