The aggressive fleet buildup seen at Medkon Lines of Turkey shows no sign of slowing with Alphaliner reporting it has bought its ninth secondhand container vessel in the space of less than a year. The Medkon fleet now stands at 23 ships.

Medkon has moved for the 1,100 teu Contship Med, paying Contships Management $7m for the 2004-built vessel, the sixth ship Medkon has taken from Contships over the past 10 months.

The ship is currently on charter to Maersk until the summer and deployed between Tanger Med, Algeciras and West Africa according to Alphaliner.
