Porto Itapoá has now joined a new shipping route connecting South America and Asia, established through a joint operation by Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Ocean Network Express (ONE).

The service includes weekly sailings and links ports such as Itapoá, Santos, Rio Grande, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo with major Asian hubs like Singapore, Shekou, Hong Kong, and Busan.

The first vessel on the route docked at Porto Itapoá on 10 May, marking the start of regular operations between the two regions.

Felipe Fioravanti Kaufmann, Director of Business Development and Customer Experience at Porto Itapoá, said: “The FIL2/SX2 service is a strategic addition to Porto Itapoá’s portfolio. It meets the growing demand for direct routes to Asia and expands the logistical options for our customers, with a high standard of reliability and broad geographic coverage.”

According to Porto Itapoá, the route is the following: Busan, South Korea – Shekou, Shenzhen, China – Singapore – Rio Grande – Itapoá – Santos – Singapore – Hong Kong.
