Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the implementation of the Europe Environment Surcharge (EES).
This surcharge, effective 1 July 2025, is designed to support compliance with evolving environmental regulations, including the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
According to ONE, the EES applies to all contracts, with tariffs reviewed quarterly and subject to change with prior notice.
Notably, the Japanese shipping company added that the EES surcharge will not apply to export cargo from China; instead, the EES portion will be incorporated into the freight charges.
In May, TecPlata, International Container Terminal Services, Inc.‘s (ICTSI) Buenos Aires terminal, welcomed the inaugural call of the SX2 River Plate Express service of ONE.
Recently, ONE further updated the rotations of its TIG and TIP services to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability across its regional shipping routes.
