    In a momentous step for India’s maritime growth, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, dedicated to the nation the North Cargo Berth–III at V.O. Chidambaranar Port, a state-of-the-art facility worth ₹285 crore to enhance the port’s cargo capabilities.

    Key Benefits: • Improved cargo throughput & bulk handling efficiency • Just-in-time berthing of deep-draft vessels • Boost to industrial expansion in the region • Employment generation: 300 direct & 500 indirect jobs.

    He also dedicated a 6-laning of the 5.16 km NH-138 Thoothukudi Port Road, built at a cost of ₹200 crore. This project will streamline cargo movement, reduce logistics costs and boost port-led industrial growth in the region.
