Bihar is aiming to become a leading logistics hub in the country with the help of its new Bihar Logistics Policy 2023. The policy, run by the state’s Department of Industries, offers attractive benefits to investors and entrepreneurs to develop transport, warehousing and trade facilities.
Under the scheme, investors will get a capital investment grant of 20% of their project cost, up to a maximum of Rs 25 crore. There are also special grants of up to Rs 10 crore for an inland container depot, Rs 6 crore for a warehouse, Rs 4 crore for cold van services, and Rs 3 crore for a container freight station.
The policy also includes interest reimbursement of up to 10% annually, with a maximum limit of Rs 30 crore. Investors will continue to get benefits under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy 2016 as well, along with support for multi-modal logistics parks.
Special categories such as SC, ST, EBC, EWS, women, disabled persons, war widows, acid attack survivors and third gender entrepreneurs will get even higher incentives, with interest reimbursement of up to 11.5% and 15% more in capital and interest grants. The government hopes these measures will attract investment, create jobs and improve Bihar’s infrastructure.
