The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the launch of MSC’s new North India to Middle East shipping service at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, further strengthening the Kingdom’s regional and international competitiveness in the maritime sector.
The new service connects Dammam with key ports in India—Mundra, Nhava Sheva, and Hazira—along with Sohar in Oman and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. It offers a handling capacity of up to 4,000 TEUs, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Mawani said the service is part of ongoing efforts to improve Saudi Arabia’s global performance indicators in logistics and enhance operational efficiency at King Abdulaziz Port. The move also aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub and a vital trade link between Asia, Africa, and Europe.
King Abdulaziz Port, the Kingdom’s eastern gateway, plays a pivotal role in connecting Saudi Arabia to the global economy. The port boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure and logistics facilities, including 43 berths and a total cargo and container handling capacity of 105 million tons, making it an attractive destination for leading international shipping lines.
