Tuticorin’s V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has registered a healthy rise in sulphuric acid traffic during the ongoing financial year. Between April and August 2025-26, the port handled 2,40,127 tonnes of sulphuric acid, reflecting a 14.14% increase compared to 2,10,371 tonnes in the corresponding period of 2024-25.

The growth highlights the port’s improved operational capabilities, infrastructure efficiency, and growing preference among industry players for liquid cargo movements through VOC Port. With dedicated facilities and streamlined handling processes, the port has emerged as a reliable gateway for sulphuric acid shipments catering to industrial demand in the region.

Officials noted that the rise in traffic demonstrates the port’s increasing role as a strategic hub for liquid cargo handling on the east coast of India, strengthening its contribution to trade and industry.
