APM Terminals Pipavav has announced remarkable progress in its ongoing mission to strengthen women’s economic participation within families and communities. Through targeted skill development and entrepreneurship initiatives, the port has helped transform livelihoods across Rajula and neighbouring villages.

The company currently operates two Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Centres (SEDI) in Rajula. Complementing these centres are innovative initiatives including a Diamond Cutting and Polishing Unit exclusively for women, and a mobile tailoring lab that travels to villages to train women in tailoring and embroidery. These programmes have been instrumental in enabling women to achieve financial independence and pursue sustainable income opportunities.

To date, APM Terminals Pipavav has trained 3,236 youth—1,568 men and 1,668 women—across various skill programmes, achieving an impressive 83% placement rate. The port has also supported the rise of 382 women entrepreneurs, empowering them to launch and scale their own businesses.

What began with 0% women participation in 2016–17 has now grown to nearly 50% participation, a milestone that underscores the company’s long-term commitment to inclusive development. This achievement was recently acknowledged during a visit by members of APM Terminals’ Board of Directors—Samir Chaturvedi, Tim Smith, and Soren Brandt—who toured the SEDI Rajula facilities and lauded the teams driving these impactful initiatives.

APM Terminals Pipavav’s sustained efforts continue to create meaningful change, fostering a stronger, more empowered community by enabling women and youth to build skills, gain employment, and pursue entrepreneurship.
