Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday urged Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to establish a network of Industrial Parks across multiple districts in Karnataka, highlighting the state’s strong potential for large-scale industrial expansion.

During a meeting in New Delhi, Kumaraswamy proposed the development of Industrial Parks in Mandya, Mysuru, Bidar, Raichur, Hubli–Dharwad, Hassan, Kolar, Mangaluru and Chamarajanagar. He noted that these regions possess significant resource advantages, logistical strengths, and diverse economic profiles that make them suitable for industrial growth.

“These regions collectively offer a strong case for large-scale industrial development and balanced regional growth,” Kumaraswamy said in a statement, adding that the parks should be considered under centrally sponsored initiatives such as the Industrial Corridor or the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).

According to Kumaraswamy, Minister Goyal responded positively to the proposal and assured that appropriate decisions would be taken soon.

The minister emphasised that the establishment of these Industrial Parks would generate substantial employment opportunities, strengthen regional supply chains, and promote specialised clusters—ranging from logistics and manufacturing hubs in Hubli–Dharwad and Mangaluru to agri-processing units in Raichur and value-added sectors in Mysuru and Kolar.
