Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) on Friday said it secured a rock dredging contract at the Coastal Berth of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) from Dredging Corporation of India Limited. The order, valued at ₹58.39 crore, is scheduled to be completed within 90 days from the commencement date.

The scope of work includes the removal of rock pinnacles and high spots at the coastal berth, followed by the disposal of the dredged material at the DS-3 dumping ground.

The project will involve extensive pre-treatment and underwater controlled blasting, following high-precision drilling operations in rock formations with compressive strengths exceeding 170 megapascals.

KMEW said it will deploy advanced marine assets, including drilling and blasting barges, trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs), a backhoe dredger, self-propelled hopper barges, and dedicated explosives storage facilities.

With a mobilisation period of 60 days, the company will undertake dredging of approximately 10,500 cubic metres of hard rock material from water depths of up to 16 metres.

“We are positioning ourselves as a comprehensive solution provider capable of executing the most technically demanding works within the port sector,” said Sujay Kewalramani, CEO, KMEW Ltd.
