A massive fire broke out at a warehouse in Ahmedabad’s Chandkheda area in the early hours of Thursday, gutting the entire facility, police said. The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) rushed to the spot and battled the blaze for nearly two-and-a-half hours before bringing it under control.
Firefighters deployed eight water bowsers and tankers to extinguish the flames. While the warehouse was completely destroyed, some products stored outside the premises were salvaged. Officials said the warehouse was used as a storage point by multiple e-commerce companies and was equipped with fire safety systems.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
In a statement, Flipkart confirmed that its micro-fulfilment centre was affected. “We are aware of a fire incident that occurred at a commercial complex in Motera, Ahmedabad. Our primary concern is the safety of our people, and we can confirm that all personnel are safe, with no reported injuries,” a company spokesperson said.
According to Flipkart, preliminary information suggests the fire originated elsewhere in the commercial complex and later spread to adjacent facilities, including its warehouse. The company stated that its operations comply with all statutory fire safety norms and that on-site teams coordinated closely with emergency services to contain the situation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, while companies affected said they are working with local officials and will share updates as assessments progress.
