ColdStar Logistics has commissioned its second temperature-controlled cold chain facility in Pune, reinforcing its focus on the FMCG and fruits and vegetables segments and expanding its distribution footprint across Maharashtra.
Located at Chakan Phase II, the new facility spans 2.2 lakh sq ft and has been developed to cater to rising demand from the Pune consumption market and the surrounding region for reliable cold storage and processing infrastructure. The warehouse has a daily processing capacity of over 3 lakh units and will function as a central distribution hub for Pune and the wider Maharashtra hinterland, enabling faster movement of temperature-sensitive goods.
The facility will handle storage, processing and distribution of FMCG products and fresh produce, serving customers across modern trade, e-commerce platforms, food processors and institutional segments. ColdStar already operates a 35,000 sq ft facility in Chakan Phase II, and the addition of the new hub significantly enhances its capacity and service capabilities in the region.
The warehouse is equipped with modern infrastructure, energy-efficient systems and ColdStar’s proprietary AI- and machine learning-based logistics planning tools, aimed at improving throughput, reducing handling time and preserving product integrity across the supply chain.
Commenting on the expansion, Sameer Varma, Executive Director, ColdStar Logistics, said Pune has emerged as a key consumption and distribution centre for FMCG and fresh produce. He added that rising regional demand, the growth of quick commerce and the increasing need for processing-led cold chain solutions drove the decision to scale up operations in the city.
ColdStar’s cold chain network offers end-to-end services including sourcing, consolidation, cross-docking, last-mile fulfilment and reverse logistics. The company operates 26 temperature-controlled distribution centres, handling around 1.8 million units per day across more than 200 cities.
Founded in 2011 with backing from Tuscan Ventures, ColdStar Logistics provides temperature-controlled supply chain solutions to clients across QSR, FMCG, food processing, retail, healthcare and e-commerce sectors. The company has a cumulative storage capacity exceeding 65,000 metric tonnes and delivers to over 7,000 pin codes nationwide.
