    Susanta Kumar Purohit, Chairperson of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, chaired a high-level strategic meeting with leading shipping liners and coastal operators in Mumbai, outlining key infrastructure and modernization initiatives aimed at enhancing the port’s capacity and competitiveness.

    During the interaction, the Chairperson highlighted major development projects including Inner Harbour capacity augmentation, the proposed Outer Harbour Project, and ongoing Green and IT-driven initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.

    Senior representatives from prominent global and regional carriers participated in the meeting, including SITC Line India, Evergreen Line, X-Press Feeders, Regional Container Lines, HMM Shipping India Ltd, United Liner Shipping Services LLP and Hanseatic Global Terminals.

    The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring opportunities for enhanced mainline service connectivity to the port. With rapid industrialisation and rising trade volumes across the Tuticorin hinterland, stakeholders expressed optimism about expanding direct services and improving cargo movement efficiency.

    The meeting marks a significant step toward positioning V.O. Chidambaranar Port as a key maritime gateway in South India, aligned with growing export-import demand and regional economic expansion.
