Maersk has launched a new flexitank removal service across key ports in Spain, aimed at enhancing efficiency and sustainability in liquid cargo logistics.

The service is designed to streamline the safe extraction and disposal of used flexitanks from containers after delivery, reducing turnaround times and minimizing operational bottlenecks at port terminals. It is expected to benefit shippers handling non-hazardous liquid cargo such as edible oils, beverages, and industrial liquids.

By offering a structured and compliant removal process, Maersk seeks to improve container availability, lower handling complexities, and support environmental standards at Spanish gateways. The initiative also aligns with the company’s broader strategy to provide end-to-end logistics solutions beyond ocean freight.

Industry stakeholders view the move as a value-added service that strengthens Maersk’s integrated logistics capabilities while addressing growing demand for efficient liquid bulk container management.
