French shipping major CMA CGM has announced the implementation of new surcharges on selected African and Mediterranean trade routes, citing operational cost pressures and market conditions.

The revised charges will apply to specific containerized shipments across designated corridors, reflecting factors such as increased fuel expenses, port costs, and capacity management requirements. Customers operating on these routes have been notified of the updated tariff structure.

Industry observers note that carriers periodically adjust surcharge frameworks to maintain service reliability and offset fluctuating operational costs. The African and Mediterranean regions remain strategically important for global trade, handling significant volumes of consumer goods, agricultural products, and industrial cargo.

CMA CGM stated that the adjustments are part of its ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable operations while continuing to provide comprehensive network coverage across its global services.
